How to Choose Your Treehouse

Each of our treehouses is unique. Your treehouse is part of the fun, and the right one sets the tone for your whole stay. Les Refuges Perchés is a ready-to-camp experience, a form of glamping where you sleep in a comfortable treehouse in the forest. We are lakeside, in a protected park, open all year, and a short drive from Mont-Tremblant, so you can start dreaming before you even arrive.

A few things to know first. You reach every treehouse on foot, a 10 to 20 minute walk depending on the one you choose, and you bring your gear in by cart, toboggan, or canoe, so pack light. Each treehouse is off-grid, with no electricity and a wood stove for heat. It’s camping in the trees, made comfortable, and dogs are welcome too, up to two per treehouse.

Now the real question: what is your vibe? Are you a sunrise-on-the-deck type, or a hide-away-in-the-canopy type? Use the guide below to find your match.

Good to Know Before You Choose

Do I walk or paddle to my treehouse?

Our treehouses can be reached on foot with 2 baggage carts, or by canoe. The walk is 12 to 20 minutes on a hilly gravel trail from the parking and reception. In winter we provide 2 large toboggans and the trails to the treehouse are groomed (but not around the clock).

Summer: should I walk or paddle? The east side treehouses (1 to 10) can be reached by canoe with your bags. It is a 10 to 15 minute paddle from the main dock to reach your shared dock, then a 1 to 4 minute walk to your treehouse. We recommend canoeing when possible, it is more adventurous and less difficult than pulling carts down the trail with bags.

The west side treehouses (11 to 20) are located on a sunny plateau. The trail is 5 to 10 minutes longer than the east. Both sides require moderate effort.

To reach the plateau from dock 5 is a 300 m climb up a zigzag trail. Unless you are travelling with backpacks only, we recommend bringing your bags by baggage cart to your treehouse. At check-in, collect your life jackets and paddles and leave them in your car until you are ready to paddle. The main dock is only 3 to 4 minutes from the main parking lot.

Weather: The lake can have wind, so keep an eye on thunderstorms, wind, and radar, and you will almost always find a time to paddle!

No matter how you choose to reach your treehouse, we recommend packing light.

Where are the toilets and showers?

An outhouse is a few steps from each treehouse, with toilet paper provided. Modern private bathrooms and hot showers (free) are at the reception, a short walk away and open around the clock.

Is it really off-grid?

Yes. There is no electricity or running water at the treehouse. You heat your treehouse with a wood stove and manage your own water. We have batteries available to rent that will power the light and fan. Wi-Fi is available at the reception if you need it.

Can I bring my dog?

Yes. Dogs are welcome, up to two per treehouse, and we ask that you keep them on a leash when on the trails.

Is this camping or glamping?

A bit of both. Our ready-to-camp concept gives you the adventure of camping in the back-country with the comfort of a mattress and lots of equipment, which is why many guests call it glamping.

Which Treehouse Should You Choose?

Looking for a full social detox?

Want to be as far from other guests as possible, for a few days of quiet? Head for treehouses 4 and 6 on the east side, or 19 and 20 on the west. You will walk a little more to get there, but no one will come your way. Worth every step.

A family with little adventurers?

Got young kids who want to truly feel like they live in the trees? Treehouses 6, 12, 13, 14, and 16 come with a suspension bridge or platform, so they feel like their own secret hideout.

Just the two of you?

Want to feel like a kid again? Do not miss treehouse 13, with its suspended bridge, spiral staircase, and turret.

Travelling as a group?

Reserving several treehouses with friends? Go for 3, 5, 7, 9, 10, or 11, 12, 13, 14, or 1, 2, and 6, or 16, 17, 18, 19. They are close enough that you can wander between them without losing anyone. Just note that treehouses 1-10 and 11-20 are on different sides of the lake.

Want the easiest walk?

Not here for a long walk to the washrooms? Treehouses 3, 5, 7, 9, and 10 are the easiest to reach and closest to the reception.

An early riser who loves a lake view?

Imagine waking up, coffee in hand, to a direct view of the lake. On the west side, 18, 19, and 20 sit high on a plateau with the best sightlines. Treehouses 16 and 17 have lake views too.

Do decks matter to you?

The deck is not an added bonus, it is the whole point. Every treehouse has one, and some have more. Look at the upper decks on 2, 6, 11, 14, and 20, or the tucked-away decks on 1, 2, 3, 8, 11, and 12.

Can’t stay away from the water?

On the east side, treehouses 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 are steps from the lake, so swimsuits on and in you go. Treehouses 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10 are just slightly set back, a short walk away.

Still Not Sure?

Whether you are after solitude, a lake view, or a base camp for the whole group, we have a treehouse for every kind of adventurer. Reach our team at (819) 681-4994, or reserve directly on our website.
